"Slum Area Development"
While living in Kenya, I witnessed many slum estates where people live in "mabati houses" made of corrugated metal sheeting, with poor sanitation, open sewers run between the houses where children play and people walk. When we asked the residents what they needed, most said they wanted education, jobs and sanitation.

The video was taken in Kisumu slum area of Obunga Estate which shows the poor sanitation and poor housing where people live in and around. In the photos, you can see a course for adults that was run to help give a global perspective to help reduce prejudices and to show the inter-connectedness of the human race.

Poor sanitation is one of the biggest problems in the Shanty Towns all over the world. How to bring clean water and the removal of human waste has perplexed mankind for thousands of years but yet the early Romans, and even older civilizations had solved many of these issues but today here in the 21st Century we still don’t have clean water and adequate toilet facilities! How can we expect poor people to elevate themselves when they have no access to essential human rights?

If you have to choose between food and buying a toilet even if there where sewage pipes then obviously you choose food.

"Adequate sanitation is the foundation of development—but a decent toilet or latrine is an unknown luxury to half the people on earth... The main result can be summed up in one deadly word: diarrhoea. It kills 2.2 million children a year and consumes precious funds in health care costs, preventing families and nations from climbing the ladder of development." UNICEF
The goal is to uplift people's lives in urban slum areas and to improve agriculture from subsistence farming in the villages using biogas, drip irrigation, poly tunnels, and affordable agricultural machinery, creating a sustainable new life-style that has zero waste by turning it into a resource - to achieve zero waste and produce a surplus of energy and food providing jobs and food security.

Education is a right of all people. If the Governments of the world spent just one tenth of what they spend on weapons of war there would be enough money to pay for everyone to have free education to university level the world over. But instead they prefer to make war instead of peace. Here in Kenya, people must pay for their children to go to school but yet many cannot afford the school fees and many children remain at home! These children are the future of the world who will look after you when you are old!

"O CHILDREN OF DUST! Tell the rich of the midnight sighing of the poor, lest heedlessness lead them into the path of destruction, and deprive them of the Tree of Wealth. To give and to be generous are attributes of Mine; well is it with him that adorneth himself with My virtues."
